Weekapaug Hillside Renovation

The new owners of a modest ranch house set on a hillside a mile back from the ocean, wanted to renovate and add to the house for their retirement. Elements included an improved kitchen connected to the other renovated First Floor public spaces; and a new second floor with a Master Bedroom and additional spaces designed to take advantage of the stunning Block Island Sound views, previously only realized from the roof of the original house. The original footprint has not changed, but the sensation is that a completely new house has taken the place of the old. New windows, insulation and a geothermal HVAC system have transformed the house from a drafty heat sieve to a tightly constructed, high performance house which will cost pennies to heat and cool compared to the original.
